A youth Corp Member Miss Ioryisa, Mirabel serving in Akwa Ibom State has donated a giant Signpost and a Logo Signage to Akwa United Football Club.

In a presentation ceremony held in Uyo on Friday 2nd February 2018, Mirabel who is 2017, Batch A corp member posted to Akwa United Football Club explained that she was motivated to donate to the club because of her achievements and successes since she was posted to the club.

Miss Mirabel is a graduate of Mass Communication from Benue State University, Makurdi and is attached to the Media department of Akwa United.

The corp member said her service year in the club is her first time of working closely with a professional football club.

” I was very happy when I got my call up letter and was posted to Akwa Ibom State. I had heard many good things about Akwa Ibom State in the media, so it was a great privilege for me to come and serve the wonderful people of Akwa Ibom.

” After the orientation exercise at Nsit Atai, the first shock was when I realised that I was posted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. As though that was not enough, I was moved to Akwa United Football Club via the Ministry’s internal posting, and as a lady in a male dominated environment, it was not funny at all.

” When I arrived at the Club house situated along Etukcat Street, off Abak Road, I noticed that there was no signage to direct fans and visitors to the club house. Then, the idea of giving the club a befitting Signpost and a Logo Signage came when I was attached to the Media department of the club”.

Mirabel prayed and wished the club more successes in the 2017/2018 Football Season.

In his remarks, the Club Chairman Elder Paul Bassey expressed appreciation to Mirabel for making a mark in the club “A club like this deserves to be known and exposed especially when we have our offices here, people should not find it difficult to locate. We thank her for what she has done. As long as the Signpost and Logo Signage is here we will remember her contributions.

“On behalf of the Management and Staff of Akwa United, I thank you for what you have done and for impacting in this club. It’s not enough for you to come and go, you have left something behind and we cherish you for that” he added.

“We also thank the leadership of NYSC for coming down here. And to other corp members, wherever you go and wherever you are posted to, make a mark” , he concluded.

The Akwa Ibom State NYSC Coordinator Mr. Oluwole Julius Amosan thanked the corp member for being a good ambassador of the Corp at Akwa United.

“While coming here, one of the challenges we encountered was locating this place. But with the donation of this Signage, it will now be easy for people to locate the Club House.

” We at NYSC are proud of what Mirabel has done in Akwa United Football club. By leaving this legacy in this club, she has fulfilled one of the cardinal functions of Community Development Service CDS of NYSC.

“When Mirabel leaves, she will look back and say, this is what I did during my service year and that will speak for her. She has left a legacy”. Said Mr Amusan.
