W According to Albert Einstein a man should not try to be a man of success, but rather try to be a man of value. This is typical of Hon. Ire Mathew Owuru. Born on June 25 1960 in Okatokwe Adokpa ward Uwokwu Oju local Government area of Benue State to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Ire Ogidi. Matthew Ire started his early education at St. John’s Catholic Primary School Igwe Ebong Uwokwu, Oju Local Government area of Benue State Between 1969-1974, and proceeded to Mount. Saint Gabriel Secondary School, Makurdi for his Secondary education 1974-1979. While in mount saint Gabriel secondary School, he was the prefect in charge of religious Affairs as well as the principal’s office boy. Between 1981 -1983 he was admitted in to the university of Nigeria NSUKA for his Diploma in Local Government studies and completed with emphasis in local government finance. Thereafter, he proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for a higher Diploma in Local Government studies with emphasis still in Local Government finance between 1986-1987.
Considering the fact that Ire Matthew Owuru is a man that will rather try to be a man of Value, rather than try to be a man of success. He attended the Nigeria college of Accountancy Jos for a professional certificate in Accountancy between 1998-2000.
Hon. Ire Matthew got his masters’ Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Benue State University Makurdi in the year 2003. He was admitted as a member of Association of National Accountants of National Accountant (CAN) in the year 2001 and in 2012 he was approved of the prestigious fellowship of the same association as a fellow certified National Accountant (FCNA).
He was employed into the services of Benue State Local Government (OJU) as a clerical staff in November, 1979 and rose to the rank of a director of Finance in 2003, between 1979-1991 he served in all the section in finance department and between 1989-1991 he was on secondment to local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Oju as accountant.
Between 1977-2007 he was appointed Local Government Treasurer and he served in several Local Government councils in Benue State.
Politically, he has been a great contributor to the politics of the Igede Nation, he was appointed as vice caretaker chairman of Oju Local Government council in 2011 and in 2015 his people, the people of Oju Voted for him to represent them in the Benue State House of Assembly were he is currently serving them.
To him, lending a shoulder for someone to lean on is a privilege, and this has been proved beyond doubt through the testimonies of Youth across Igede land and the Benue community at large.
He is happily married, and blessed with five children.
